One crisp morning in Rose Bay, Sydney, Max was out dragon boat training, a new hobby he’d taken up to keep him grounded and energised. As he helped pull the boat from the water, he spotted a familiar face walking past: Grant, an old friend. They exchanged a wave and agreed to catch up properly the following week.
Over coffee, their conversation quickly turned from casual updates to a deeper discussion about purpose, challenges, and business. Max shared his mission to change the lives of one million families positively. It was a bold goal he had been working on for some time, but the project hadn’t scaled as he had hoped.
Grant listened, reflected, and challenged the thinking. While sharing Max’s goal to change as many lives as possible. Together, they began to reimagine the possibilities to help people enjoy more areas of their lives without compromising on the things that are already working well. That conversation became the spark. Not long after, Joya Life was created.
Max’s journey was rooted in lived experience. Growing up as one of nine children in a household surviving on minimum wage and government support, he understood struggle intimately. He loved family life and having a young, energetic dad, who dreamed of travelling the world “when I retire”, but couldn’t imagine waiting that long to travel. Determined to change his story, Max travelled started travelling the world at 21, began his own family by 23, has lived in 4 different countries and went on to build a property portfolio of 14 rentals. By the age of 46, he had achieved financial independence, with passive income exceeding his expenses. Retirement was an option, but helping others became the calling. In particular, Max credited his success to his focus long-term planning and his happiness to building all the different things he loves into his lifestyle and routine. Above all, Max loves the life he has and wants more people to love every aspect of their own lives and get ahead more quickly than he did.
Joya Life is not just a project, it’s a purpose-driven movement.
It exists to help individuals and families find their balance, reclaim their energy, and design their best lives. Built around eight essential pillars of human existence, Joya Life is about growth with purpose, empowering families to live fully, thrive collectively, and leave a lasting legacy.
